Since its foundation our Club has promoted and performed many humanitarian projects, scholarships and charity projects, at both local and international level. Some members of the Club offer their personal free-time contribution to support these projects that besides all need quite important economical resources. Therefore our Club organizes periodical fundraising events some of which in the residences of ambassadors who wish to contribute to our humanitarian activity. Thanks to the events organized in the residences of the Ambassadors of Germany, France, Italy, Argentina, Belgium, Iceland, Spain, Switzerland and European Union we have been able to collect a good portion of the funds to be used for the projects. And of course great financial support our club receives from individual donors – businessmen who would like to help the society in the best way through assistance of RCMI.

We have been already involved in three “Matching Grants” with the Rotary Foundation and some RCs of Georgia, US.

Among the main projects implemented in the past years the yearly "All Russia Rotary Children Music Competition" is the most prestigious one of the RC "Moscow International". This competition is reserved to the promotion of young Russian musicians whose age is between eight and thirteen and who are studying one of the following instruments: piano, violin, viola, violoncello, wind instrument. Some of these children are pupils of famous musical schools. Every year Rotary Club "Moscow International" organizes this event in cooperation with the other Rotary Clubs of Russia and with the assistance of many sponsors. RC “Moscow International” is member of the “European Union of Music Competition”, an official European Organization that promotes national and international music competitions.

The main projects performed in the past years and the ongoing projects are mentioned here below.

ROTARY YEAR 2004-2005 - President: Leonardo de Angelis

Celebrate Rotary

Paul Harris and some of his friends founded Rotary Club on February 23, 1905. This year is the first centennial of Rotary!

Our club is celebrating this special year by focusing its activity on some of the opportunities presented by Rotary International.

1. Rotary Centennial Meeting in Italy (18 - 25.09.2004) (click link for details)

This project has been promoted by our Club to celebrate Rotary in our world. Thirteen people, seven Rotarians and five spouses or friends have attended full or part-time this tour and have really got to know each other better and developed their friendship. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to establish good-hearted personal relations among Rotarians of different clubs. In fact we met with many Rotarians of some clubs, RC Bari, RC Casamassima, RC Parma, RC Pisa and RC Ravenna.

2. Rotary Centennial Scholarship

Thanks to ZAO Banca Intesa, the Russian branch of Banca Intesa, (Italy) and Sacmi Imola, a private Italian Engineering company, we will celebrate Rotary in our community. In fact these two companies have decided to joint their forces and grant a special fund to be used for a scholarship to Rotary Club “Moscow International”. This scholarship, the “Centennial Scholarship” has been awarded to a young Russian graduated in Economics from one of the most well known Russian Schools in Economics. This person will attend a three-month courses in banking, a “Master” at INTESA FORMAZIONE, the high level school that forms the managers of Banca Intesa. These courses will be held in Milan during the 2005-2006 scholar year.

3. Rotary Centennial 2005 - Children Music Competition 20, 21 March and 29 April 2005 (click link for details)

As mentioned above, among the main projects implemented in the past years the yearly “All Russia Rotary Children Music Competition” is the most prestigious one of the RC “Moscow International”. This year we have celebrated the Centennial of Rotary in our community in the best way by performing a special music competition, the Rotary Centennial 2005 – Children Music Competition. Mrs. Natalia Gutman, one of the worldwide famous violoncellist, accepted to be the President of the Jury of this competition. More than seventy children have applied for this competition. The winners of this competition and the winners of the two previous ones have played together with the famous Kremlin Chamber Orchestra in a concert directed by Misha Rakhlevsky on Friday, the 29th of April 2005.

4. Thailand Relief

Immediately after Tsunami struck Sri Lanka and other regions in the Indian Ocean, RC “Stockholm Strand” started to collect funds to assist people. RC “Moscow International” decided to contribute to this great effort by donating RC “Stockholm Strand” $1.500- to be used for helping people affected by this terrible drama. This was another way to celebrate Rotary in our world!

    OTHER PROJECTS

While celebrating the Centennial our Club will continue to implement the following ongoing projects:

5.Orphanage “Our house”, Tomilino – Matching Grant

This “Matching Grant” is implemented in cooperation with RC of Moultrie, Georgia, US and the Rotary Foundation. We are purchasing some school furniture for the orphanage.
